Stillness in West Texas
Out in West Texas, there are places where the land seems to forget that time is supposed to move forward.
The prairie stretches out in a quiet yellow sea, and the wind moves across it like a slow breath that never quite stops. Old cars sit in the distance, rust settling into their bones, as if they decided long ago that this was as far as they would ever go.
In the middle of that stillness stands this plant, reaching upward in its own stubborn way. Not grand. Not loud. Just present.
If you look at this picture long enough, it will not take much effort to be transported there. You will hear the dry wind brushing through the prairie, feel the open sky pressing down on the land, and see those lonely machines resting where the road finally gave up on them.
Some places do not change.
They simply wait.
